Margaret WhiteMargaret White - Education Adviser

I am currently a Senior Lecturer with the Faculty of Education and Children’s Services at the University of Chester. I have experience of Senior Leadership within the Primary School sector and have taught pupils from Foundation Stage Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I am a LEA Governor and Vice Chair of the Governing Body of a community primary school and have in depth experience of teaching children with Special Needs/Disabilities and children who have English as their second language.

On an educational pet front, I have kept guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, budgerigars and fish in the classroom to heighten the awareness and appreciation of animals and teach children about their basic needs and how to handle animals with respect.

As a parent, I encouraged pet ownership alongside my 3 children. I have cherished a donkey, goat, bred canaries, rabbits, tortoises, hamsters, stick insects and cold water and tropical fish.

I have had a life-long involvement with dogs and cats and have experience of breeding and showing pedigrees of both. I am passionately interested in all areas of animal welfare and see education as the key to responsible pet ownership.

I feel honoured to be able to contribute a wealth of professional expertise and experience to an organisation which highlights animal welfare issues and has a direct positive impact on policy making.
